WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?
Aromatherapy is a modern name for the ancient knowledge of healing and improving health using fragrant, natural ingredients. These ingredients, called essential oils are found in herbs, plants, flowers, fruits and the bark, roots or resin of some trees.
THE BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE
Aromatherapy is a truly holistic therapy, taking into account the mind body and spirit of the person seeking help, as well as their lifestyle, eating patterns and relationships, etc. The essential oils have many properties ranging from calming and soothing to revitalizing and uplifting and are therefore tailored to suit your needs. The massage is performed with slow and gentle strokes which also includes the head and face, and the oils will be specially selected for the patient and their condition. Special attention will be taken into considertion when blending these oils.
If the therapist comes across areas of tension they will usually use a slightly firmer pressure to loosen up any tight muscles. The room should always be warm and cosy with scented oil burners or candles to relax the patient.
The essential oils can be used in many forms:
- Added to a carrier oil for body massage
- Added to your bath water
- Room Vaporizer
- Inhalations
- Compresses
